[Boatanchors] Datong FL3 question

I'm trying out a Datong FL3 filter which seems to have a very supportive

following but I seem to be doing something wrong using it.


I will tune in a simple, nice, strong cw signal and then cut the filter in to

see how it works.  The problem is that the received signal almost immediately

degrades into a fluttering, like something is over loaded or motor boating.

When I turn the fiter off, the signal is fine.


I've experimented with volume controls both AF & RF and that does not seem

to help.  The FL3 just has switch positions (cw vs ssb) and bandwidth adjustments.


Has anyone an idea what might be going on ?
