I am in a project and need to remove the "natural" tarnish from the bodies of about 25? ninety degree coax connectors. I removed a slight amount of the tarnish with ammonia but they are still not? tarnish free. Have any of you found and experienced an effective method of removing the tarnish? John King
If the tarnish is black, it is silver sulfide. If the tarnish is tan, it is silver oxide. Tarn-X, usually available at a grocery store, will remove either. Don’t get it on bare skin because of the sulfuric acid & don’t immerse the entire adapter because you don’t want thiourea residue left inside the adapter. I apply it with cotton swabs and wipe clean with a cloth, dipped in distilled water. I’ve been using this stuff on silver plated electrical components for many years.
