[Boatanchors] HT-40 Final Toob

Dan, the 6DQ6 is not a real good substitute for the 6DQ5. Different bases,
less plate dissipation on the 6DQ6, lower max plate voltage, and heater to
cathode breakdown. The HT-40 is rated at (I believe) 75 watts input. The
6DQ6 could have trouble with that.

Antique Electronics has new 6DQ5s for $14. I'd spring for the 6DQ5.

Subject: [Boatanchors] HT-40 Final Toob

Greetings!

I am working on a couple of HT40s and could use one or two 6DQ5s, the
final tube in the xmtr.
My questions are:
Is there a good and cheap (ha!) place to buy them?
OR...is there a mod or tube substitution that can be made instead of the
6DQ5?
I have a basketfull of 6DQ6s, but I can't find any info that they are a
good substitution.
Any help greatly appreciated!
