I have in my curio of parts an unmounted device that consist of two
connected sealed glass tubes, pointed on the ends and with a red and a
black wire coming out of the opposite bases. It is marked as made by
"Muirmead" with a number 3057_ (last digit unreadable). There is a
clear fluid in the tubes.
When measured at the wire ends it consistently gives 1.0169 VDC, via my
Tektronix DMM-916. It measures the same year after year. It appears to
be a chemically energized lab grade voltage standard.
I have no recollection how I obtained this. I've had it for maybe 25 or
30 years. Would be curious if anyone knows how it works.
