As a kid ham in the early 60's I recall DXer VE7EH always removing the VR
tube from his VFO in the DX-100 so his signal would stand out in the
pile...seemed to work!

I have always loved the sound of a little chirp. My single 6L6 tri-tet
oscillator uses a 40m xtal quadrupling to 10m so of course, every bit of
chirp is multiplied X 4 but I love the sound. I had a ton of wonderful
comments over the past solar high years over its sound and many said that it
brought back pleasant memories of the good old days. For such a simple rig,
I was really surprised that it was even usable on 10m which was my main goal
when building it. I knew it would be chirpy but thought it would be much
worse.
