Intriguing to say the least.  I just teachers and parents will encourage 
their charges to participate in anything psychomotor.  It does build skills 
beyond the cell phone.

for a basic simple vacuum tube device, even a simple p.p. audio amp
like the Eico HF-14 would be great, but nowadays the fear and
liability surrounding tube dc voltages would probably prevent it.
