Heh,
I have one of those DX-100 thingies. I gave about fifteen bucks for it
at hamfest once upon a time and I loaned it out a few times to new hams
when new hams were interested in such things. I can barely manage to
slide it out of the cabinet and put it on the bench a few feet away with
no change in elevation.
I'm currently overhauling a RAK-7 (read as "recapping") and it's not
very much lighter. Once again..slide it out of the box and turn, take
about four steps and slide it onto the bench. I'm working on a small
shop crane to deal with that stuff. The Apache needs TLC and it has to
be elevated to the benchtop when I get brave enough - or finish the
crane project.
I use some plastic radios, some slop bucket, a rice burner, and some
boat anchors. Some are appliances (making me a sometimes appliance
operator) and some are not. A few are antique appliances. Lets not
forget the SDRs..I have a little of that going on here, too.
Some of my musical instruments are as old or older than me. They don't
make 'em like they used to. Sometimes that's a good thing and other
times not so good.

There's enough weight in a DX-100, 32V, Apache, Viking I or II, B&W 5100 rig, etc. to say nothing of the big tube amplifiers that if attached to a hunk of stout rope and tied to a smallish boat, the boat would pretty much stay in one place barring a gale or stronger wind!

I had planned to go through these as a retirement project, but now they're more than I can lift without risking damage to my back! Anybody interested in NCL-2000 amps?
