[Boatanchors] SBE-33 Alignment

Are there any SBE-33 knowledgeable people on this reflector?  I have 
posted to the SBE group but it seems that it takes a couple of days 
before my messages are posted to the group.

I am stumped on the first step of the SBE-33 alignment procedure, 
carrier oscillator alignment.  I am supposed to measure the voltage on 
the center arm of the carrier oscillator pot and adjust T4 for a 
maximum.  I get no voltage reading on the center arm of the carrier 
balance pot even with adjustment of T4.  I assume the carrier oscillator 
is working because the set will receive, and I can peak noise by 
adjustment of T4.

I suppose the next thing to do is to put the scope on the oscillator.

What could be the reason(s) for no voltage readings.
