[Boatanchors] Collins 516F2 Power Supply Capacitor

Hi Bob,

Aren't the caps used in military super high current pulse applications
Polypropylene? Don't believe Electrolytic will work at those pulse current
levels. The ESR is the killer --- no comparison to Polypropylene.

Kindest regards Jim K9AXN

I would submit that Electrolytic capacitors rated above 600VDC are *not*
unusual.

Neither are they really expensive.

I received a healthy handful mixed in with a batch of capacitors.

1400VDC are typical within this assortment. Then there are those beyond
that level. Neither are they very large physically.

This is *not* the "old days" at all. High voltage electrolytics are in
use in any laboratory that does experimental work on rail gun, high
powered plasma burst equipment, and quite a wide array of the newer
cutting edge weaponry.

One very well known example happens to be the new U.S. Navy main Laser
weapon platform now at sea.

Regarding Collins of the vintage 516F2, no. There definitely is no use
for such.
