The combo I use here is Malwarebytes Premium and Bitdefender Antivirus
Plus. So far (knock on wood) in about 18 months nothing has managed to
get by the pair. Each has strong points, and they are basically
complimentary to each other.
I use these on both my desktop and my Android tablet (a Kindle 8.9).
The tablet runs the free versions, since pretty much all I use it for is
reading books and listening to music or checking the news. I don't run
email on the Kindle, but I do use it's internal browser (Silk). So far,
it appears Firefox is not yet available for Kindle.
I also use Firefox with the NoScript plug-in. O/S is Win7 Professional
32 bit
Finally, the ISP I use also runs user configurable spam and malware
filtering for everything I send or receive.
