>From my understanding, you do not want to reduce the filament voltage on
directly heated cathode tubes for the same reason that those tubes must be
warmed up fully before allowing plate current to be drawn. It will strip
part of the coating from the cathode.
I think that this is given in one of the eimac bullitens from Bill Orr.
