Dave,

I like the social media idea.  I think platforms such as Facebook provide an interesting way of sharing our hobby, especially with the use of pictures of our latest restoration or troubleshooting.  

However, most of the traffic on the BA reflector is very short burst, "does anyone have one of these", or "does your Gonset do this"? ... And that type of exchange is really better suited for a reflector where you can pass a large volume of traffic in a very short time.  

So I think the reflector is well suited for what it does, and I'm not sure moving it to some other media is going to improve the end user experience.  That said, I would like to see more FB sites with BA content.
