I'd respectfully suggest you haven't bought large boxes, styrofoam insulation sheets or bubble wrap in a while. Not to mention the time cost of actually packing a large radio. 

Yes, shipping materials are worthless to the recipient (except for the fact their precious radio did not arrive as a "kit"), but they cost a good bit more than nothing.
