[Boatanchors] [Milsurplus] Shipping: Gotta Vent

Shipping cost is killing the long distance sale of anything large or heavy. They have given HUGE bulk shipping discounts to the major corporations and they are making it up by charging the rest of us out the wazoo. When they moved everything to air mail instead of truck or boat, they had to go to dimensional weight pricing. God help you if you have a large box (read "anything rack mounted") that weighs over 30 pounds. It will be $2 a pound including insurance.
And all the buyer does is mentally deduct the cost of shipping from what he is willing to pay for the item. So sellers always get stuck with the shipping cost. Every time shipping cost goes up, the value of anything you may have wanted to sell goes down. Lovely.
Oh well. No way to fight any of this. 73 de N3RHT

How much insurance did you take on the package?

Trying to ship a lousy 14 pound package from Texas
to Virginia via USPS. 14 lbs.... 18x14x4.
Not an ART-13 or an AR-88.
They want almost $50!!
Weeping, creeping, jumping Jehoshaphat!
No way UPS. They recently put a fork-lift tine through
a Harvey Wells transmitter for me.
They made good but I'd rather have had the transmitter.
Better go check Fed-Ex. Thanks for the "vent time."
