[Boatanchors] Hamfest Pricing (was: Shelby NC hamfest photos)

A very long time friend and ham passed away recently and he had a fairly
long list of better than average stuff. One item in particular was an Icom
7800 and the PW1 amp. I have been sorting and pricing all the stuff with
the idea in mind that I would negotiate a bit lower. Thus far the only item
I have put out there is the 7800 and PW1. You should have seen the sharks
circling but I will not sell it at a ridiculous price.

These guys, all but one, kept telling me how poor the stuff is and not one
person would pay even a fair price for it. The one who didn't offered such
a low price for them that even I almost laughed. It sits in the floor right
now until I get everything sorted and priced then I will put it out there
with a cushion to negotiate. But I will not sell for comparatively nothing.
The widow deserves better than that.

Sorry guys no boatanchor stuff or you would be reading a list.

Ebay prices at hamfests: my observation of that is that the eBay
price folks are what I call "professional hamfesters." These are
bottom feeders who go to estate sales, and think they are
mini-Wal-Marts, and they can put a price on something and not
negotiate. Sometimes they even buy an item at a hamfest cheap and put
it on their table at the very same hamfest. They may or may not be
hams.
