Question for the group.

Is there a regenerative receiver that is generally considered to be the 
'best of the breed? I am aware of the navy RAL RAK and I vaguely remember a 
German set that was supposed to be superb but I don't know its name. Maybe 
from WWII.
Are there any others that you know of?
