Some wish that we simply discuss heavy, old, and glowing communications 
gear.

SDR is a simple addition.

No SMT!  All sockets so one does NOT destroy a component.

This is a revised version.

I take the approach that IF it aids in my pursuits when I light up one 
of two 400LB.+ TXs, A separate receiver can be used to show where I can 
fond someone on a different frequency.

A laptop in the shack won't detract from operation at any point.

I also have an SM-220 that gets used to monitor the transmitted signal, 
AND the currently received one.

Every individual goes their own path.

Personally, I don't find the topic of SDR being out of line.
