I've used control cable from two-way radios for this purpose. Twelve volt power leads tend to be overkill on the older rigs like Motrac or Micor. Lower power rig control cables are smaller. Noticed short chunks of cable at ham fests just laying in the trash bins.
Good point about Teflon insulation for hi voltage leads.
