     One can find other examples; the famous R-390A was 
built in tremendous quantities, reportedly as many as 
50,000!  A great many were scrapped. I've seen photos of 
stacks of them going to the scrap heap. Also, I have a long 
time interest in the history of sound recording and 
particularly motion picture sound. Most of the equipment 
used up to about the 1950s was leased from the manufacturer 
and when replaced was destroyed. Its very difficult to find 
some of this stuff.
