Hi Ron,

Perhaps down there in Florida you have a lot of older hams to help balance things out. Up here in New Jersey the older ones all moved to Florida, all except me - I have too much junk to move.

So - Locally I'm stuck with a bunch of lids (newbie's) who know everything. I never, never, turn on 2-meters anymore. There's no intelligent conversation to be found.

I have joined 3 clubs a little farther away from me where I can participate in the "fun" of ham radio again.

73, John

There is something that we can do about it, we can join the nearest
"all around" HAM club and invite every local that we meet on the air to
attend a meeting and we can greet the new visitors and encourage them to
join the club and participate in field-day and other club activities. It
is a route to their education.

Old timers need to check into all local (including two and six meter)
nets to interact with the newbies to help and mention the local HAM
club/s as being a source if HAM information.

Encourage the reading of the HAM bible.
