[Boatanchors] Globe HG-303 Idling Current

The more I think about it, 40 mA idling current is pushing the plate dissipation of the 6146.  The 6146 has a maximum plate dissipation of 20-watts CCS and 25-watts ICAS.  Since the plate dissipation is all the time that the transmitter is "turned on", the CCS rating has to apply.

The 807, used in the Globe Chief series, has a plate dissipation of 30-watts CCS and, with 2 of them in the Globe Chief, the plate dissipation is 60-watts.  With 20 mA of idling current, at 550-volts, that makes a dissipation of 11-watts and with a 30 mA idling current, that makes 16.5-watts which are well withing the ratings.

There is probably a problem in the bias to the 6146.

I cannot find, in the HG-303 manual, any reference to a "key up" plate meter reading.  The manual, if you don't have one, is available at:

The Globe Chief 90 and Globe Chief 90A, which use a pair of 807 tubes in the final amplifier, has a "key up" plate reading of between 20 mA and 30 mA according to the manuals.

However, looking at the manuals of the older WRL / Globe transmitters that have a 6146 in the final, I can't find any reference to a key-up (idling) plate current.

GM all,
Does anyone know, for sure, what the idling current should be?
That's the current, in Operate with the key open. Mine runs about
40ma.
