[Boatanchors] Globe HG-303 Idling Current

Hi Glen,
I couldn't find any ref. either.
Mine, as received, is 40ma and so far has worked
fine. When I get time, think I'll look at some of
my other 6146 xmtrs and see if there are any hints.

While on the 303, I got a email from a K1 who accidentally
blew out R-10 on his 303. He was trying to find out from
me what my idling current was. The schem. calls for a
47K ohm, parts list 4.7K and he said in his, R-10 was
actually 4.7 K. I also noticed the manual calls for a tune
up plate current of 160ma...think that's a typo...that is the
max on the mtr scale...I tune mine to abt 120ma or less. It
does run very hot and use a muffin fan on the cabinet top.
Tnx for your reply.

I cannot find, in the HG-303 manual, any reference to a "key up" plate meter reading. The manual, if you don't have one, is available at:

http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/globe/hg303

The Globe Chief 90 and Globe Chief 90A, which use a pair of 807 tubes in the final amplifier, has a "key up" plate reading of between 20 mA and 30 mA according to the manuals.

However, looking at the manuals of the older WRL / Globe transmitters that have a 6146 in the final, I can't find any reference to a key-up (idling) plate current.

GM all,
Does anyone know, for sure, what the idling current should be?
That's the current, in Operate with the key open. Mine runs about
40ma.
