[Boatanchors] Viking II audio

Well in preparation to modifying the Viking II audio, removing the 6AU6 tubes, enlarging the sockets to accommodate 9 pin types and using a 12AX7 to drive a 12BH7, i discovered the reason for my squeaky audio.  The primary of the driver transformer was open.  While in conversation with a couple local hams today on 40 AM, that topic came up.  One fellow said that it seemed to be a natural thing in not only the Johnson rigs but Elmac as well that for some reason those transformers would open up.  It happened to me!  Now to find a replacement and get on with the mods.  This was a pretty good reason for me not to have much modulator current, ya think?

This could be more fun than i want to have.  Focusing the eyes in areas like this is getting to be more of a problem every day.  Its the golden years that are causing it i'm sure!
