[Boatanchors] 1930's era cw transmitter

Ronnie,

Some time ago I built up a "1930s" rig using a Taylor T-20 driven by a  
42 tri-tet xtal oscillator, plug-in coils, wooden chassis and masonite  
front panel.  Used authentic period parts mostly but cheated on the  
PS.  Worked a fair amount of 20M CW DX with it from back in MD where I  
was living at the time.  Still have it but experienced  problems with  
the "modern" PS when I tried to fire it up a few days ago, go figure...

Other good period tubes giving somewhat more power output would be the  
Taylor T-40, TZ-40 and T-55 (and RK & HY equivalents).  For 50 watts  
or more the VT-4C (211) might be a good choice.  Pricey these days,  
though thanks to the audiophools.
