You can accomplish the same thing with a dummy load in series with the exciter...believe it or not, it works!
Best thing to do is mod the Rangers according to WA1HLR Turbo Ranger specs, which leaves you with 12-15 watts drive in tune, 35 watts in phone. Solid state the power supplies and away you go... perfect exciter...73, Warren W1GUD
