There are two good articles about Howard amateur radio receivers in Electric Radio Magazine, both by Jim Hanlon, W8KGI,

Howard Model 438  January 1992 ediition
Howard Model 490  April 2012 edition.

I have a Howard Model 435A which is the same model as my novice receiver in 1954.  I use it frequently in the Classic Exchange, www.classicexchange.org , which is coming up on September 15 and 22.

Hi All,

I vaguely remember some equipment or manuals by a company called Howard in
the late fifties and early sixties. Can anyone tell meabout them or am I
just remembering wrong? Thanks.

Hi Duane,

A little history here:
http://www.radiomuseum.org/dsp_hersteller_detail.cfm?company_id=730

Further:  Raymond Moore in "Communications receivers" say they made the
ham/swl sets from 1938-1942.  Published a full page ad in the 1946 ARRL
handbook, but apparently never produce any post-war sets.

There was a Howard company that made broadcast receivers during the 1920, 1930s, and maybe even into 1940s and even later.

I don't remember any Howard in the amateur radio business. ?However, it is certainly possible that there was such a company.

Well auto complete strikes again. Message was supposed to read Moe Howard. Oh well.
