So instead I got two 12v batteries and had one in my parents garage and the other one behind the drivers seat running the SR-46. It would last about two weeks before having to swap batteries. I had about an hour round trip to work and back so that probably was pretty good performance. Used a 6m Squalo on the roof.

I could conver the electrical to 12 negative ground but it would not be simple nor would it be cheap. Is a vintage ham radio a pipe dream? What are your recommendations, suggestions, or warnings? Plus what type of antenna should Iook for? Thanks for your help.
