I have a 1950 GMC 6V pos ground. I am building up a station that includes a
single band 40 meter transmitter from the 40s and an Elmac PMR-6 rcvr. The
filaments won't care either way, so all you need is a pwr supply from the
era and use 6 V Pos Ground SS vibrator replacements. It will work fine

Subject: [Boatanchors] vintage mobile radio and antenna
I have a restored 1949 Ford F-1 pickup with the original electrical system
which is 6 bold positive ground. I am considering adding a vintage radio. I
could conver the electrical to 12 negative ground but it would not be simple
nor would it be cheap. Is a vintage ham radio a pipe dream? What are your
recommendations, suggestions, or warnings? Plus what type of antenna should
Iook for? Thanks for your help.
