Thanks to every one who replied to my question about the 'weathered 
steel' concept.  At the time the building in Jeff City was constructed, 
most people in the area thought it was the nuttiest idea that anyone had 
ever come up with.  It did look awful for a couple of years, sorta like 
an old pickup rotting in the junkyard, before the color evened out.  I 
don't recall seeing any buildings in my area (suburban STL) that use(d) 
the CorTen coating, but I may have overlooked them.
