Watch yourself with those "220 volt" gadgets.
I  have to check commercial line voltages all over 
my 200-mile territory in North Texas every month.
They vary all over, especially in the summer when
the utilities are trying to compensate for the heavy load.
Readings are usually from 225-252 volts, 
with the mean about 244 volts.  Hot stuff.
