The Lafayette stock numbers have nothing to do with the type of
microphone other then the prefix "99" indicates that it was "imported".
The 99-4523 is a dual impedance slim dynamic microphone. The built-in
transformer supplies the 600 and 50,000 ohm impedance and is selected by
a rotation of the plug. Satin chrome finish and a slide-type on-off
switch. Mike is omnidirectionial when used vertically and has a cardioid
pattern when tilted. Typical frequency response was from 90 to 10,000
hertz. High impedance output roughly -54 to -60 db. Weight is roughly 2.5
pounds. It sold for $11.95 back in the middle 60's. Although maybe hard
to believe, I have New Old Stock of the complete mike elements, still
sealed, and in boxes. The mike element was also known as the model PA-46.
