For others who may need this info ...

Thanks for all the thoughtful and informative responses. The conclusion seems to be to use a two-part epoxy ensuring the surfaces are clean!  I think I will use Loctite 1C as suggested by K0UYA. Avoid JB-Weld due to the fact is might be conductive due to its metal content.
