[Boatanchors] TCS Tx & Rx

[W2HX]

I've always been interested in the TCS.  What about it makes it not useful for general ham use? I figured I better get some opinions before I buy one and end up disappointed.

The full package with cables, dynamotor, coupler, etc and manuals certainly helps.

A full TCS-12 package recently sold for $425 and was in exceptional original condition.

OTOH they are not very useful for general ham use based upon a few years of using one (TCS-13) on 40 CW aboard a USN ship. It didnt take long before I had permission to use a RBC and its antenna for receive. The ET shack and the normally unmanned Emergency Radio were in the same compartment so I had something to do during those long ocean cruises between ports.
