Here's what I do on the Groups I either own or moderate (>10,000 members):

Items not owned by the poster like:

"Hey, look at this odd thing" or "What does thing fit or do" are allowed.


Items being sold by the poster MUST disclose that fact and are permitted
occasionally:

"I am selling my Collins 75A-3, eBay number 1234567890."


It works just fine, IMO.
