[Boatanchors] Chassis Oxidation

I have an old Philco Model 40-185 console that I'm rebuilding.  The 
chassis has oxidized to a dull gray color and has numerous rusty patches.

Is there any way to clean this stuff off to bring the chassis back to 
its original look, or should I consider it "patina" and leave it alone?
