Maybe it will cancel out the tube distortion and then you could patent and 
sell to audiophools for the big bux (-;.

Fact that the silkspan shrinks is the problem. It works great for model 
airplanes (in my younger days I built quite a few), but the very fact that 
it does shrink when "dope" is applied could definitely cause physical 
distortion to the speaker cone. Then, the physical distortion could cause 
distortion in the reproduced sound from the speaker.

Using a paper that doesn't shrink is, in my experience, a much better 
solution.

Once doped, I doubt water would do much. Planes I built with it are intact
after over 50 years.
