triode oscillator. The oscillator operates at the fundamental frequency of
an 80- or 40- meter crystal."
"The complete pentode acts as an amplifier for the oscillator signal on the
control grid. The plate load is a tuned tank circuit on 40-meter signals,
but the coil acts as an RF choke on 80-meters. (Capacitor C7 couples the
signal to the driver stage.)"
The Parts List calls it out as a "40 meter oscillator coil".
Sure sounds like it's for 40m.
