Another vote for heat. I have a tiny jeweler's oxy-acetylene torch I
use for such problems as these (http://www.littletorch.com ). You might
take the soldering iron to a jewelers and see if he/she might use their
torch to heat up the screw. They might do it for nothing - it's
Christmas, after all...
