Slotted head screws are pretty unforgiving. Heating it up with a torch until it's red hot will guarantee it to come out easily. This always works on rusted fasteners. There are some places where it is not very useful, say like near a gasoline tank on your car!

Richard - I have a problem along theselines...... I have a nice American Beauty soldering ironthat I picked up at a yard sale. Heats up fine, but the solid copper tip is loose in the element. It's held in by a single small set screw (slotted head) that is frozen SOLID. I have tried.... Penetrating oil, Kroil, turning it on to heat up, hammer, impact screwdriver, and probably something else I have forgotten. It won't budge. I suppose I could drill it out and re-tap, but this is the first time I have been defeated by a rusted fastener.... So far!! 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 2-C/2-NT, 4-A, 4-B, C-Line and TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs <www.k4oah.com> ______________________________________________________________ Boatanchors mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/boatanchors Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Boatanchors at mailman.qth.net List Administrator: Duane Fischer, W8DBF ** For Assistance: dfischer at usol.com ** This l
