Hi,

The sound system on my computer has been sounding terrible and I wanted
separate whether it was the plastic speaker amp (dime a dozen at the
fleas) or the sound card itself..or...

I have a stereo that can fill the house with undistorted sound and so I
made up a cable to connect the computer to the stereo. I had the same
distorted audio from the big stereo.

I took the cable that I made and put it in the freezer for three days
and nights. Now *almost* ALL of the distortion is gone! I know the
cryogenic treatment really needs liquid nitrogen. So now I'm gonna get
me a set of them cryogenic cables!

Oh wait. It's not April yet.

What I really found was my el-cheapo "amplified speakers" contributed a
little but some of the YouTube music videos were not very well done and
the sources of sound were contributing most of the awful noise. the crud
was being being fed to my amp and it... well it amplified it.

I also learned that I like the bigger amp, turned down, more than the
el-cheapo I was using. And now - I have a double barrel 6L6 amp that I
intend to repurpose for this very role. There hasn't been a tube
connected to my pc since I retired the vacuum and glass video monitors a
few years ago
