Hi Bill,

I'm sure by now you have plenty of references for manuals, but I would 
be somewhat careful about a number of the mods that are circulating for 
the Ranger/Valiant series transmitters.  Some of these mods deal with 
solid-stating the power supply, while others have to do with "improving" 
the transmit audio.  At the risk of being flamed by someone, I'd advise 
you to get the Ranger in first class operating condition as a bone-stock 
unit before attempting to add any mods.  Granted, the transmitter were 
built in the late Fifties and early Sixties, but for the most part, the 
engineers who designed them had reasons for designing them the way they 
did.  Some of the popular mods may actually hurt the performance of the 
transmitter or shorten the life of some of the components.
