Hi Bill,
I got the manual for mine from BAMA and you already have that pointer.
Mine has not been modified except for the tube substitution in the VFO.
I am not sure it made any difference.
I have downloaded some of the materials you have asked about from the
internet and some other responses have already pointed at them. Some
kind members of this and the - wait for it - Johnson list have sent me
additional information they have on their own computers..original web
address unknown. Some of those people on that Johnson list are on this
list, too.
I am not satisfied with the amount of VFO drift I am experiencing with
mine but it is apparently as designed on 160 and 180. I hear other hams
on the air with radios that drift even more than my Ranger but I am not
going to run mine that way. I am building a heterodyne VFO inspired by
the Hallicrafters HA-5 and I'll use that instead. I can do that and just
leave the built in VFO offline...not modified or hacked.
If you want more or want to compare notes we can do that off list. I can
email you some files if you don't already have them. Just as others have
shared with me, you can have a copy of whatever I have here.

Bill KU8H
