Well, there was never any rig NAMED Ranger I, 
but after the Ranger II came out (grey panel)
folks have ever since referred to the original 
as Ranger I ! If your is not labeled Ranger II, 
you have what is referred to as Ranger I. 
Same thing for Viking I and II and Viking 
Valiant I and II. 
 
There are other folks who make repro manuals. 
I just mentioned the chap who made the manual 
I bought for my Ranger.

Thanks for all the inputs....is there an obvious way to determine if I have a Ranger or Ranger 1? I was not aware there were two models before the Ranger II..
