I guess there's a first time for everything, but I have never rxed a
package from UPS that had damage if it was packed competently. The
times I have had damage was when the vendor, usually a ham or someone
on eBay with an account ID like, "Granny'sGoodies" did the shipping
and ignored my instructions on how to pack. You get these estate
sale knuckleheads who are accustomed to selling salt and pepper
shakers trying to sell a NC300 and they don't know the first thing
about packing it (a lot of hams don't know either). Actually in my
case any sign an item is being sold by a porcelain knick knack dealer
or someone accustomed to wicker baskets and such means I leave it for
someone else to buy.
FedEx on the other hand has been a royal PITA and I avoid them as much
as possible. They have a requirement now, that I be available in
person, no substitutes, to sign for anything valued at more than chump
change. No leaving with a neighbor, nothing. If anything worth a
few hundred bucks gets shipped by them it means taking a day off from
work to wait around. Never again.
