Hi John:

Belden 8899 002 is perfect --- breakdown 20Kv working 5Kv #18 wire. It's
rubber, extremely flexible and tough. It is the original HV wire used to
connect the P2000 plate and screen to the SR-2000 --- 2700v. It is tough
enough that it is not in a containment. We've used it in every SR-2000
restored. If you want 3 feet I'll send it out. Newark sells it and it
comes in other colors.

Kindest regards Jim K9AXN

I am reworking a 50+ year old Hallicrafters linear amplifier and need to
replace the wire carrying the High Voltage from the rectifiers , High
voltage filter cap and bleeder resistors.

The wire will be handling about 2,900 DC. Working voltage and a current of
almost 1 AMP.

The wire must be insulated to handle the voltage but must be flexible so
that it can be flexed around in the amplifier. I know that Coaxial cable is
often used in projects but am not sure about the insulated center conductor
being able to handle the voltage and up to 1 amp.

Three feet will be sufficient if I can find suitable wire. The old wire
insulation is breaking due to years and years of heat inside the amplifier.
I am afraid it will start coming of if I force it to flex into place again.
Any suggestions about the type of wire that is best and available in a small
quantity? Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
