[Boatanchors] [Amateur-repairs] Simpson 260 Assistance Needed

David,
       I'm sure you thought of this and have already done it. The test 
leads for a Simpson 260 usually are old and will develop resistance in 
them. Most likely one or both of your test leads are bad and have 
developed resistance in them.

Take some solder or a solid large wire and short between the test lead 
holes(sockets) on your Simpson.  See if you can zero then.

I use alligator clip leads all the time to extend my meter leads to 
dental tools for tracing.  I find that the alligator leads develop 
resistance in them a lot and I have to repair them.
