[Boatanchors] Globe Scout 65 and Globe Scout 65A Cabinet Paint.

The Globe Scout 65 and 65A used a cabinet with rounded edges that was completely different from the Globe Scout 65B.  The cabinet on the 65 and 65A was basically a Bud cabinet.  The 65 had a hinged door in the top and most 65A did not have a hinged door.  The 65B used basically the same cabinet as the Globe Chief 90 (i.e. with rounded corners, no "overhang").  The Globe Scout 66 used this same cabinet as did the Globe Scout 680.  The Globe Chief 90A, Globe Scout 66A, and Globe Scout 680A used the cabinet with the "overhang".

Now this is not to say that Leo didn't ship some transmitters with a cabinet with an "overhang" that usually came without the "overhang" and ship some transmitters that usually came with the "overhang" with a cabinet without.  I have a Globe Champion 350A that came with a Globe Champion front panel with the "A" added and with a flat front cabinet instead of the overhang.  When I checked with Leo (several years before he died), he told me that what I had was one of the last units produced.  He had run out of the regular front panels and cabinets with "overhang".  However, he still had a number of the older panels and cabinets in stock and, like any "good" businessman, he wasn't going to let those go to waste!  :>)

Lee
I recently refinished a cabinet destined for a Chief 90A
I used RustOleum hammered finish in the silver / gray color
While not exactly same as the I remember the 90A I started with in 58 it was
very close and the end user was very pleased with it.
The RustOleum finish is a bit touchy. Too little and it is just silver /
gray paint.  Too much and it looks like it was "hammered to death".  Took me
two tries to get it right even though I practiced on a scrap first.
