I got lucky in the 70's when the telephone company had to restring the phone
wires to my parents' house out in the boonies.  I got a lot of that  2 wire
telephone wire.  This stuff was the stuff they hung between poles just to
run single line service to a house.  It was about 12 ga if I remember
correctly and you could have pulled down a house with it.  Took me forever
to split it into two wires.  That was some good stuff Ma Bell used back
then.
