Hi David,
A couple of suggestions:
If you have a choice, go for an AutoCAD in the Rev 8 to 10 range. The
later ones get even more complicated and are generally not needed for
schematics.
If you are going to make PCBs, AutoCAD is probably not the right tool
because it does not output Gerber files AFAIK.
You don't need commercial symbol libraries. I made my own which are much
prettier, IMO.
