Probably the best thing about Craigs List over any of the auction sites or  
on line shack sale sites is that one normally picks up the purchased item 
in  person. That way, you see what you are buying and if tit has been  
misrepresented, you can just put your money back in your wallet and walk away.  
The only thing it has cost you is the gas to get there. You are highly 
unlikely  to be scammed this way. If it is not a high priced item, you are also 
unlikely  to be robbed. If it is take several friends with you.
 
 
 I have bought, sold and received Free Items on CL and never had a  problem.
